Obesity Trend

There is a definitive increase in obesity in our country over the last three decades.  This trend appears to be worsening and with nearly 200 Obesity Related Disorders,  this has grave  implications.

It’s well known that obesity worsens insulin resistance hastening the development of diabetes.  Other common Obesity Related Disorders include High Blood Pressure, Elevated Cholesterol Levels, Heart Disease, Atrial Fibrillation, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Low Testosterone Levels, Infertility, Risk Of Stroke, Gallstones, Depression and increase in Cancer Risks (Pancreas, Kidney, Endometrial).

Fortunately we also know that as we lose weight, these disease processes also improve.  It’s well known that weightloss improves ones overall Insulin Resistance, their Diabetes Markers, Blood Pressure is easier to control, the number of medications they are taking reduces.  Their overall mental and physical health improves.  It is as if they go back in time.

At Weightloss & Sleep Disorder Center of Maryland, it is our goal to help our patients achieve not only their Weightloss goals, but these key benefits to better enhance their Health & Well-Being.
